Typically “new” dimensional lumber comes in nominal sizes, meaning that it is first cut at 2”x4” but once it dries and is planed it ends up at a finished dimension of 1 ½” x 3 ½”. The older dimensional lumber that All American Reclaim carries is true dimension, meaning a 2”x4” is actually 2”x4The dimensions of the lumber are consistent, making it easy to use and measure for construction purposes. Dimensional lumber is available in different types of wood species, and it can be treated to resist damage from insects, moisture, and decay.
